Dangerman Liu First Man Through

The first player to grab a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2006 Philippines World Pool Championship was dangerous Taiwanese Liu Cheng-chuan who overcame Canada ’s Tyler Edey by an 11-6 scoreline.

The 32 year-old from Taipei never looked in trouble as Edey made too many errors to keep up with Liu.

Liu, who hammered Earl St rick land in the last 64 and then disposed of Korea ’s Ryu Seong-woo
in the round of 32 will meet either Ralf Souquet or Konstantin Stepanov.

His only other visit to the WPC was in Kaohsiung last year where he made it through to the last 32.

“Last night I slept well, so that I felt great and full of energy to meet this game, he said afterwards.

“I think I’m quite lucky today, but in the eighth rack, I missed the 9 ball, in the tenth a 1/9 combination ball and scratched.

“In the 12th I missed the 2.9 combination ball and all that made me feel nervous.

“But Edey left many chances for me and I adjusted my mood and attitude when timeout to finally win the game.

“Also I kept my own pace and tempo and I guess Edey maybe seemed little bit been affected by me, so he lost his own rhythm,” he added.
